A Conversation with former Nicaraguan OAS Ambassador Arturo McFields

In a dramatic speech before the of the Organization of American States鈥 Permanent Council, Nicaraguan OAS Ambassador Arturo McFields took members by surprise and harshly criticized the human rights abuses of the Daniel Ortega government.

鈥淒enouncing the dictatorship in my country is not easy,鈥 he said, 鈥渂ut to continue to keep silent and defend the indefensible is impossible.鈥

The Latin American Program hosted a discussion with former Ambassador Arturo McFields, in conversation with former U.S. Ambassador to Panama John Feeley, on March 30, 2022, to discuss this issue.
