Liberal or Realist? Obama鈥檚 Foreign Policy Ideology and the U.S. Rebalance to Asia

Ideology has played a key role in leadership, including the present administration. Public policy scholar Brendon O鈥機onnor argues that under Barack Obama, the White House has returned U.S. foreign policy to an ideological consensus that dates back to the 1930s, combining liberalism and realism. He will assess the U.S. rebalance to the Asia-Pacific and its policy toward China鈥檚 rise as well as Washington鈥檚 response to the ongoing crisis in Syria.
