Francisco Rodr铆guez is a Venezuelan economist and the Chief Economist at Torino Capital LLC. Previously, he was director and senior Andean economist at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Rodr铆guez has held numerous positions in academia and public policy. Between 2000 and 2004 he headed the Venezuelan Congressional Budget Office. He has taught economics at the University of Maryland at College Park, Wesleyan University, and the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administraci贸n in Caracas. Before joining BAML, Rodr铆guez was the head of research at the Human Development Report Office at the UN Development Program. His research has been published in journals such as Foreign Affairs, American Economic Journal, and Journal of Economic Growth. He is the co-author of Venezuela before Ch谩vez (Penn State University Press, 2012) Rodr铆guez received an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University, and an undergraduate degree in economics from Venezuela's Universidad Cat贸lica Andr茅s Bello. He has been an associate editor of Econom铆a: Journal of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association since 2008.
