Maria Algar Ruiz started her professional career at ITP Aero where she primarily worked with EUROFIGHTER鈥檚 EJ200 engines. Following her experience at ITP Aero, she worked as a Project Engineer with the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva. Soon she was employed by Airbus as a Propulsion Systems Specialist at the Airbus Customer Support Engineering unit. She then joined the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in 2006 as Rulemaking Officer for aircraft operation and CNS aspects. In 2008, she joined the ATM/ANS department within the Flight Standards Directorate. During her time at EASA, she has held various other positions including serving as the SESAR Coordinator, Section Manager of ATM/ANS Regulations, and UTM-SESAR Coordinator at EASA鈥檚 Innovation Cell within the Executive Directorate. Since 2019, she has served as EASA鈥檚 Drones Programme Manager within the Executive Directorate and reports directly to EASA鈥檚 Executive Director.
Ms. Ruiz holds a Master鈥檚 degree in Aerospace Engineering from ETSIA Madrid and ENSICA Toulouse. Additionally, she also holds a Master鈥檚 degree in fluid dynamics from the Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics in Belgium.
