Jorge 脕lvarez M谩ynez is for the presidency of Mexico. Born and raised in Zacatecas, Zacatecas, he holds a degree in International Relations from Instituto Tecnol贸gico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente and two masters degrees 鈥 one in Public Policy and Administration from Tecnol贸gico de Monterrey and the other in Constitutional Law and Human Rights from Centro de Estudios Jur铆dicos Carbonell. Until 2010, 脕lvarez was a member of the and represented the party in the city government of Zacatecas from 2004 until 2007. However, internal conflict within the party pushed 脕lvarez to switch alliances, eventually joining the --Nueva Alianza coalition. From 2010 until 2013, 脕lvarez served as a local deputy representing Nueva Alianza. 脕lvarez announced his candidacy for the municipal presidency of Guadalupe, Zacatecas 鈥 a move which earned him the attention of Dante Delgado, the founder of MC. 脕lvarez ultimately lost the election, but was named MC鈥檚 Secretary for Organization and National Political Action, thus solidifying his involvement in the party. From 2015 until 2018, 脕lvarez served as federal deputy and was re-elected in 2021. During his second term, he also served as MC鈥檚 coordinator of federal deputies.
Whereas candidates for and the were announced in early September, MC did not name a candidate until early November. Samuel Garc铆a, the current governor of Nuevo Le贸n, announced his candidacy, but withdrew his name from consideration less than a month later.
